Amanda Hamilton is an artist from Southern CA who currently lives and works in Minneapolis, MN. Her work is grounded in the imagery of geologic time, the cyclical aspects of nature, perceptual and metaphoric darkness. She received her MFA in painting from Claremont Graduate University, Claremont, CA and has exhibited throughout the United States and attended numerous artist residencies including Vermont Studio Center, the James Castle House, and the Elizabeth Murray Artist Residency in upstate NY. Hamilton was a 2026 nominee for the Joan Mitchell Fellowship. She is committed to building community through teaching, residencies, and facilitating group gatherings of artists, writers and curators in the Twin Cities. She is a contributor to the 2020 book “Wicked Art Assignments” from Valiz Press and the University of Arts in Amsterdam and a contributor to the forthcoming Audubon publication “Disappearing Birds of America”.
