The working campus is three buildings: Casket Arts, the Carriage House, and the Factory. All three stay locked by default. Casket Arts has an intercom directory at the door; the other two do not. One exception to the working-studio rule: Northeast Sculpture Gallery Factory, in the Factory building, keeps real gallery hours. Here is how it all works, so you know what to expect before you come.
Visiting is by appointment: agree on a time with the artist first, and they’ll be expecting you when you arrive.
Start with the artist’s page in our online directory. That is where you’ll find which building they’re in and how to reach them.
If they’re in the Casket Arts building, you can use the intercom directory at the main entrance on 17th Ave NE: find their name, dial it, and they’ll buzz you in.
If they’re in the Carriage House or the Factory, there is no directory at the door. You’ll arrange the time directly with the artist, and they’ll meet you there.
Northeast Sculpture Gallery Factory, in the Factory building, keeps its own posted hours like a traditional gallery. No appointment needed. Just stop by while they’re open.
Accessible entry is at the back, off the parking lot between the three buildings, next to the accessible parking spaces.
The campus hosts open studio events throughout the year, and each has its own character.
Art-A-Whirl® and Open Casket are the biggest days. Nearly every studio opens, and the halls are full of artists and visitors. Come to one of these for the fullest picture of the campus.
Holiday Market also draws many artists, opening their studios to sell work for the season.
Open Studio Saturdays happen more often and tend to be smaller and quieter, a chance to catch a handful of artists at work, meet them, and talk with them at your own pace, without the crowds.
No appointment needed for any of these: just wander the floors, meet whoever’s in, and see the campus the way the people who work here every day do.
